Stainless steel: corrosion-resistant precision parts

Stainless steel is the material of choice when corrosion resistance, hygiene, or strength are required. Through our qualified manufacturing network we procure milled and turned stainless parts in all common grades — and, project-specifically, high-strength and heat-resistant types too.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which stainless steel grades are most commonly processed?

Commonly processed are 1.4301 and 1.4305 (standard austenitics, widely available), 1.4404 (acid-resistant, molybdenum-alloyed), 1.4571 (stabilized, heat-resistant), 1.4542 (high-strength, precipitation-hardened), and 1.4112 (martensitic, hard). The choice depends on corrosion and strength requirements.

Why stainless steel for CNC parts?

Stainless steel offers high corrosion resistance, strength, hygiene, and heat resistance. It's ideal for parts in food, medical, chemical, and plant environments, and anywhere durability is required.

Is stainless steel harder to machine than aluminium?

Yes — stainless steel is tougher, prone to work hardening, and causes more tool wear than aluminium. This requires adapted cutting parameters and suitable tooling. Through our network we specifically select partners with the right equipment and experience.

Which grade is right for my part?

It depends on corrosion load, required strength, temperature, and environment. 1.4301 for general applications, 1.4404 for more aggressive media, 1.4571 for higher temperatures, 1.4542/1.4112 for high strength or hardness. We'll advise you on the right choice.

What does machining stainless parts cost?

Cost depends on grade, geometry, tolerances, machining effort, and quantity — stainless is more demanding to machine than aluminium. Through GP-Digit, based on your drawing, you'll typically receive a binding quote within 24 hours.
